New UPS Central States Health Benefits Chart

May 7, 2013: You can download and review a benefits chart for the enhanced Central States C-6 Plan, which would cover many thousands of Teamsters from various regions if the tentative agreement is approved.

This chart is being distributed by the International Union.

Most Teamsters across the country presently in the company plan would be moved to this plan under the tentative agreement. Those in California and in New Jersey Local 177 have until November 1, 2013 to come up with an alternative plan for those members, per a Memorandum of Understanding.

Regarding health coverage for retirees, the tentative agreement includes a Memorandum of Understanding which states that Teamsters presently under the company plan will pay premiums for retiree coverage as follows: Effective 1/1/2013 $50 individual, $100 to include spouse; effective 1/1/2014 $100 individual, $200 with spouse; effective 1/1/2015 $150 individual, $300 with spouse.

We encourage Teamsters to review the health and welfare coverage, as well as the contract.

Wow, with these kind of givebacks in a time when UPS is prospering i really hate to see what would happen in a downturn.  So as a part time employee with no real chance of becoming full time in my center for at least another decade, i can look forward to paying $400 a year toward my deductible by the time this contract expires.  So a week and a half take home pay for me.  When right now i have no deductible and better coverage with more flexibility

This contract is horrible! If anyone votes to approve this, they are crazy. Everything in the contract takes from us a gives back to the company, the union threw us under the bus. I don't understand how the union could negotiate such a bad deal for us after UPS making record profits last year and the first quarter this year.

(C-6 plan is missing 1-12) Current Part-Time National Health Plan has more: 1.Ambulance-Ground coverage 2.Inpatient & outpaient surgery 3.Physician in hospital services 4.Allergy testing & treatment services 5.Physician & facility charges 6.Hospice care inpatient & outpatient 7.Skilled nursing facility 8.Outpatient private duty nursing 9.Home health care 10.Rehabilitation & speech therapy 11. Durable medical equipment 12. Behavioral health benefits

By going with this C-6 plan you just throw my family with 3 children under the bus with all thier medical problems.  We have the best medical coverage now, that allows my children to get the best heatlh care positable.  When I call our Blue Cross office of Illionis, first they treat me like a real person and want to help me get the best care for my chilfren.  I've seen before with other heatlh Ins. we had through UPS this was far from the case.  When your dealing with so much medical your first concern is that child that needs you. You don't have the time and strengh to be on the phone figthing for eveything that your husband is working so hard for.I know no one cares about my family and our needs, but I pray with all my heart it will not come to this C-6 plan. I  will not be able to afford the care my childre need, all their meds, testing and the list just goes on. I've never been so worried and affarid.

ITS THERE JUST NOT GOOD COVERAGE COMPARED TO WHAT WE HAVE NOW......1.IN PATIENT SURGERY IS WE PAY 20% AFTER DEDUCTIBLE, WE PAY 0 NOW, 2.PHYSICIAN SERVICES IS WE PAY 20% AFTER DEDUCTIBLE, WE PAY 0 NOW, 3. HOSPICE IS THE SAME 20% AFTER DEDUCTIBLE WE PAY 0 NOW 4. NO LONG TERM CARE COVERAGE UNDER THIS PLAN, WE HAVE THE AT 100% NOW. 5. NO PRIVATE NURSING, WE HAVE 100% NOW                                                                              SO I AM LIKE MOST OF YOU IF THIS IS INDEED TRUE COVERAGES UNDER THE NEW PROPOSED PLAN THEY WANT US TO SWITCH TOO.....ARE WE GETTING THE BEST FOR US UPS EMPLOYEES FROM OUR UNIONS?

The more I read, the more angry I get. This is not a contract to endorse. This is garbage. The more I think about it, the more I think maybe UPS will not be a part of Christmas this year. A Grinch should not be delivering packages. S-T-R-I-K-E !

I was on the phone ALL day yesterday with our local getting NO where just being told I didnot understand he would explain things.  Now your talking to a Mom of three with on going health problems, who has to know the Ins. inside and out to be sure everyhting is in the network and make it work.  And he's going to tell me how it works!!!

I was so mad I called the Washington office  202-624-6800.  The man I spoke with went on to tell me this C 6 Plan is the same as the plan we have now.  I told him NO!!  Went down my list saying with  C 6 Plan we have SEVERAL out of pockets  Annual deductible, out of pocket max $1,000.00 per person / $2000,00 for family only applies to major medcial, presscriptions you can ONLY use CVS or mail order (CVS 10% up to $50.00 per prescription, mail oreder 100%).  If filled retail non- CVS after 2ND refill covered 50%. Outpatient diagnostic /X- RAYS/ Lab covered 80%,  after 100% oop, Quest 100%.  This person kept saying I was wrong, but I would not back down because I live this hell daily!!!!  (Sorry!)  I told him we have the best Ins, we never have / had all this out of pocket.  This man told me HE did not know this, he needs to check into this matter.  I just went off, NOW your going to check into our health ins. plan to see what we have now!!!

I went to the drug store this morning picked up 14 of our prescriptions and that's not for the whole month.  But I paid a total of $25.00!!!   One precription can be anywhere from $45.00 - $385.00.  You can do the math what we would be paying with the C 6 Plan.  Yes we can do mail order, but with daily medical and running to docotr's/ hospitals it doesn't work that easy.  I like using my drug store, I know when I pick the meds. up it's the right med in that bottle.  We use a wonderful drug store they know us and years of running in and out know the situation.  I was told by a very caring person you never do without the kids meds!!  If it's before pay day not to worry we'll see you Sat.  (pay day is every other Friday!)

You don't have to take my word, really read about the c 6 plan every line. Write it down next to the plan we have now, you'll see it's a difference of day and night!!!!  They do not care about our workers and families. I did ask who owns share in CVS and did not get a answer.

First, we need the Central States Enhanced C-6 Summary Plan Description (SPD). A signal-imaged or two document(s) coverage comparison is extremely vague. The SPD is a start, but there is much more details needed.. For instance, outpatient diagnostic /X- RAYS/ Lab.

There is NOT any coverage information about Behavioral Health Benefits. What will be our coverage and who will be our administrator?

How are the co-payment(s) and/or co-insurance(s) applied to the annual deductible? Are there procedures and/or routine maintanence that will apply and others that don't?

Let's say an MRI. I only pay a $10 co-pay no matter the several different areas I had it done. What will be the coverage under this considered health plan? Even if it is 90%, 10% of thousands of dollars is hundreds of dollars more than a $10 co-pay.

Prescription coverage is huge, and the last post discussing this topic is correct.

We need to know the details to provide an objective judgment to consider the Central States Enhanced C-6 health plan.

It would cheaper to pay a $20 premium because what if I had surgery, had 10 prescriptions, visited the emergency room once, had out-patient procedure, MRI, CT, etc., in an annual year. I think many can fall into this category.

I propose that UPS pay the difference to have the Central States Enhanced C-6 identical or reasonable to at least the circumstances I presented.

As a long term part-time UPSer, I can't believe that the part-timers at UPS allowed this Teamster union of "ours" to throw us into this Central States plan. It is far less coverage than what we had before. Was this just laziness or ignorance of the part-time force to allow our union to do this to us??? I believe the union showed a complete lack of respect for the 130,000 part-timers employed at UPS

My husband has worked for UPS for 30 years!!!  Yes I said 30 years.  We have had excellent health benefits the entire 30 years.  With the new Team Care I am concerned due to the fact that none of my doctors or dentist are listed.  The union rep says no problem just tell your physcian to be added to the network.  Seriously, why is that my job to tell my doctor what to do.  We live in a small rural town and the doctors and dentists that are under the network are not my choice of doctors.  I have many questions and will continue to find the answers but I feel that this will definitly benefit the insurance company not my family.
