IBT Tells YRC Members that the Plan Is Working

January 8, 2010: The International Union held a YRC members conference call yesterday to congratulate themselves and to thank members for their sacrifices to keep YRC rolling. IBT Freight Director Tyson Johnson also stated that he expects Chicago Teamsters to take a 5% pay cut by February 1.

The rumor in Chicago is that another vote is coming soon. It will be the third vote on the same concessions for Local 705 and the fourth for Local 710 members.

In response to a question, Freight Director Tyson Johnson said he expects YRC to meet its commitment to resume paying members’ pension contributions at the end of 2010. That will be about $300 per week per member, or about $500 million in 2011.

A recording of the conference call is on teamster.org

The plan is not working. Teamsters need to be on the streets, instead the company is taking LTL drivers off the streets. The company has undermined what Hoffa has done. Zollars does not want this to survive. Customers are leaving in droves.

I got to listen and leave  comments on YRC Tele-Town Hall Teamster phone conference...Thirty minutes of my life I won't get back...I could hear the pats on the back 2,000 miles away...I counted at least a hundred duh & um pauses in piss poor presentation by Hoffa,Tyson,Keigle...Got to hear two questions from rank & file teamsters and then they had to cut em off close call to get to the football game...I stayed on line to leave Health & Welfare benefit cuts question and am confident I'll never get a reply...So if the purpose of this dog & pony show was to get my vote cause I still have a job don't count on it ! I will vote for Santa Claus first ...
